What is Electroporation?

Electroporation is a technique in which an electrical field is applied to cells in order to increase the permeability of the membranes, allowing products to be introduced into the cell more efficiently. Its application to the skin has been shown to increase transdermal product delivery by several orders of magnitude. Used alone or in combination with skin needling, electroporation expands the range of products which can be delivered transdermally.

The main advantage of electroporation is that it is a totally painless treatment and does not cause any kind of trauma to the skin as it does not require needles.
